General

1) How do I connect to my consultation?

To connect to a phone consultation, please follow these easy steps:

  • Prepare: Make sure that for your consultation you are in a quiet place, with either a landline or good cellphone reception and a charged battery.
  • Dial-in: Your conference room will open 10 minutes before the scheduled time. You can call any of the conference numbers listed on your consultation page.

  • Connect: Enter your conference code (found in your email from Evisors). 

2) I prefer to have the consultation call me. How do I do this? 

If you'd prefer to have Evisors dial you, visit your consultation page and use the "call me" feature. Here you may enter your phone number and our system will call you at the time of the consultation.

                               

3) What do I do if I don't have access to a phone? 

If this is the case, Evisors recommends that you use Google Voice or Skype for getting a phone number to use in the consultation. 

4) What should I do if I have problems connecting? 

If you experience problems when trying to connect to your consultation, please email byuhmentorconnect@evisors.com. We will reach out to the advisor to explain what happened and the reschedule the session. 

 

Mentors

1) How much of a time commitment is required of me? 

As much or as little as you like! You set your own schedule and consultation times, so your time commitment is up to you whatever you feel comfortable with. 

2) What subjects/majors/careers is this good for? 

MentorConnect helps students connect to mentors from all backgrounds and careers, so whatever experience you have, it can help a student somewhere in the University. 

3) Am I mentoring only students, or also other alumni? 

MentorConnect works to connect students to mentors, so you would only be mentoring students. 

 

Students

1) Is this only for business majors? 

No. MentorConnect has mentors from all backgrounds and careers, so everyone is welcome and should be able to find a mentor that works with their future career interests. 

2) What happens if an advisor doesn't respond to my request? 

Evisors will went out an email to both parties. The email to the advisor will ask if they are still interested in having the consultation, while the email sent to you will notify you that Evisors has reached out to the advisor. We also recommend new advisors in the event that the one you requested cannot meet.
